SunHouse Policies

SunHouse Participation Policy:

All students participating in SunHouse programs/events must be fully cleared to participate. Required elements for participation:

  1. Permission form filled out by a parent/guardian for the relevant SunHouse program/event

  2. Copy of parent/guardian’s ID sent to sunhouseonline@ljpres.org or turned in to the church office (Lizzet Fitz),

  3. Student medical form on file (valid for one year). Please click here for more details about our participation policy.

SunHouse Early-Departure (Walking Pass) Policy:

Students must stay at all SunHouse programs/events until the published end time of that program/event. To leave early from our weekly programs (Wednesday for middle school, Monday for high school) students must have a purple “Walking Pass” filled out by a parent/guardian in-person. Parents/guardians may come to the program check-in station to fill one out, or visit Lizzet (lizzetf@ljpres.org) in the church office during the week. Walking Passes are valid for one year.

On Wednesdays (middle school), we dismiss students with an on-file walking pass out the gate at 6:30PM.

On Mondays (high school), we dismiss students with an on-file walking pass out the gate at 8PM.

SunHouse Behavior & Conduct Expectations:

At all SunHouse programs, events and trips we expect our staff, volunteer leaders, and students to uphold our values of safety and respect. If our staff feels a student has said or done something that violates these values, we will remove the student from the activity. An immediate parent/guardian phone-call will occur, and we may ask the parent/guardian to come pick up their child before the activity’s scheduled conclusion. In some circumstances, we may ask that your child takes a one-week break from programs before returning to SunHouse. Please talk with your child about our expectations for behavior and conduct!

  1. All students should keep their hands and feet to themselves at all times. We have a zero-tolerance policy for inappropriate contact.

  2. One seat per person. No lap-sitting or sharing seats.

  3. No hate-speech or slurs of any kind. We have a zero-tolerance for any form of bullying.

  4. Do not spend unnecessary time in our restrooms. Use restrooms when needed, then promptly re-join the program.

  5. Phones are collected and stored safely in the phone-zone.

  6. Practice mutual-respect. Our staff and volunteers care for you; please respect their instruction and leadership.

SunHouse Policy for Medications and Health-Related Equipment:

Preparing your child’s medication for SunHouse camp:

Medications includes pills, liquids, powders and creams that are swallowed or applied, or inhaled. This includes but is not limited to: vitamins, supplements, cough drops, pain medication, insulin, epi pens.

All medications must be in the original, store-bought container with the original dosage information (over the counter medications) or pharmacy prescription label (prescription medications). No SMTWTFS organizers, plastic bags with loose pills, or inhalers without a label.

WE WILL ADMINSTER MEDICATION EXCATLY AS IT IS PRINTED ON THE MEDICATION LABEL. Your child’s age must be within the bottle’s age/direction. We cannot use a parent note for altered dosages/frequency: please make arrangements to get an official doctor’s note or re-printed pharmacy label reflecting the correct dose.

Packaging your child’s medication for SunHouse camp:

Fill out a “Traveling Medications Form” for your child. If you are not sending medication with your child to camp, you do not need to print this form.

Please pack your child’s medication(s) and the “Traveling Medications Form” in a clear, plastic Ziploc gallon-size bag. Bring this Ziploc bag (do not pack it in your luggage) to camp check-in so our health supervisor can review it.

 Additional Information about Medications:

Our camp health supervisor will have first-aid supplies, Tylenol, Advil, Tums, cough drops, cough/cold/fever medication, and anti-nausea medication for motion sickness.

If your child requires a medication that they must keep with them at all times (epi pen, insulin etc.) please alert us prior to camp check-in or at camp check-in so we can make proper documentation and accommodations.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding health and medications, please do not hesitate to contact us!

SunHouse Scholarship Policy:

We don’t want the cost of camp or an event to be the reason a student cannot attend. Please contact us about scholarships and financial aid.

SunHouse Refund Policy:

30+ days prior to the event, a full refund of your payment may be provided.

29-15 days prior to the event, a half-refund of your payment may be provided.
